Making Difficult Decisions
Have you ever been known to talk to yourself? You are not alone.
Many people have a harsh inner critical voice that says things like, "You can't do that. That was stupid. You will never be successful. Everyone will laugh at you if you do that." In psychology this is referred to as the inner critic.

Then, we also have an inner voice that may become very emotional and upset with our self. This voice comes out when we are feeling vulnerable, sad, angry, or unsafe. This is referred to as our inner child.

We also have an adult ego state or healthy voice that serves as a problem solver. This voice says, "You can do it. You are smart enough. You are lovable. You are good enough. It is ok to fail and make mistakes."
We often argue with ourselves when we are trying to make a difficult decision or are in conflict with our self or with others about a decision that was made in the past. When this happens, we have conflicting parts or ego states arguing inside our head. Both Coaching and Parts therapy are highly effective in getting those inner voices to quiet down and get on the same page with a mutual goal.
